Detoxifying Bedtime Yoga Flow

by Jenni in

Well, I promised long ago to post my favorite bedtime detoxing yoga flow, and here it is! The yoga flow takes  about 15-20 minutes to complete and will leave you feeling fresh, loosened, and ready to get some serious zzz's.

What I love most about this flow is the detoxifying effects. During the night our bodies have a rejuvenation process that happens all the way from our vital organs to our skin. This is one of the key reasons sleep is so important for a healthy body, happy mind, and great looking skin! When we detoxify our bodies before starting the rejuvenation process, we are keeping everything in better working order. This flow will help work out some of those kinks we can get in our digestion along with doing some good for our spine, blood flow, and the oxygen absorption within the body.

If you are really wanting to make this workout stick, I would recommend drinking a cup or two of water both before and after the yoga flow. Be sure not to skimp on the Shivasana either! It may seem odd to rest before you rest, but a good Shivasana before bed can help take away all the day's stress and give you a better night's sleep.

Thank you Casper Mattresses for teaming up with me to make a super simple and highly effective yoga flow for better sleep and a better body :)

Enjoy!

This Week in Workouts: Best Run Ever

by Jenni in

A quick note: For some reason, this did not get out yesterday. Since it was a pretty great week workout wise, I wanted to get it out anyway :) I hope your Monday is fantastic. Happy Monday!

Happy Sunday! Man, this week was filled with lots of super fun things! First, Sunday began with my longest run in about two years, then we got to see Once, which was epic. I honestly do not know which is better, the movie or the show. All of the Irish music in the show made it the hub's favorite, hands down. And, speaking of Irish music, does anyone have plans for St. Patrick's Day? We are in the process of planning something fun for my birthday/St. Patrick's Day and I cannot wait!

This week was also filled with kettlebell workouts, more runs, and lots of handstand and scorpion poses.

Sunday: 6-mile run averaging 8:30 per mile. Whoohoo! This was my first run outdoors in quite a while, it was so nice and wonderfully relaxing. Although, my face was a bit dirtier than indoor running.

Monday: Resting those legs and yoga

Tuesday: 4-mile run followed by yoga flow for flexebility

Wednesday: Inversion yoga flow

Thursday: Rest day

Friday: Cassey Ho Dance Workout followed by kettlebell mixer workout that is derived from here.

Saturday: Kettlebell mixer workout x3 followed by this yoga for detox by Adriene. Yea, I will definitely have to post the kettlebell mixer workout super soon, I am completely obsessed with it. Bum and abs are sooo sore!

Get Well Soon

Almost everyone I know has been hit with this cold/flu that is going around. I am still getting over it, but am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This yoga flow has also helped me out quite a lot. The flow is short (only taking 22-minutes to complete) and is a beginner flow that mainly works on simple twisting poses to improve flexibility and help detoxify the body.

This whole being sick thing has taken a massive toll on the working out bit, but doing this yoga flow seriously helped. If you are not feeling so good and have had a fever, I completely recommend it. This one is waaayy easier than the usual yoga flows on P+K but just as beneficial when we are under the weather. If your fever is still too intense and something more mild is what the doctor ordered, this yoga flow from bed may be right up your alley.
