Happy Valentines day to all! IN the spirit of Valentines day, I have decided to talk about my newest shirt love. This run, yogi, run shirt has officially climbed to the top of my "loves" list.
I have been eye-ing this shirt since I first saw it about a month ago. There is absolutely no good reason for me to not have it yet, especially since it has become my jogging mantra. Yoga and running are such wonderful things, especially when paired together. This shirt reminds me how great each are, separately, but how incredible they are together.
For those that enjoy running, but think yoga will give them lack-luster results, try it. Most people find that combining a 30 minute yoga sequence into their weekly schedule helps them stave off injuries and loose more weight. Yoga will help stretch and tone the muscles that a cardio activity is building. This this combo can help you stay strong with long, lean muscles to pack a punch. Although power yoga is good, try something that does not get your heart rate going like the usual routine. The long poses and slow movements can do wonders for our body's fitness level, stamina, and health.
If you are an expert yogi, but the idea of jogging a mile has you hiding in a corner, it may be one of the best things you can do for your body. The American Heart Association says that getting our heart rate up between 65% and 85% for at least 30 minutes per day can help reduce the risks of heart disease. The cardio involved in jogging can do wonders for our health, and when mixed with yoga (or Pilates), it can also reduce strain to muscles and joints. Start slow with a mixture of walking three minutes and jogging thee minutes for one mile. Increase the jogging time and decrease the walking time every other jog- in a matter of weeks you will be jogging 2-3 miles straight!
When I first started yoga, I thought that jogging would be the last thing I would ever do. Then, I started jogged. Turns out that jogging made me more productive on my yoga days and yoga made my new muscles lean instead of bulk. Yoga stops my muscles from bulking and keeps them nice and toned while jogging keeps my muscles building and my carbs melting away- the perfect combination for any girl who likes her food!
