A Massive Shopbop Sale and The Bikinis I am Eyeing From It

It may not be feeling quite like spring yet for the rest of the country, but it is full-on shorts weather here in Florida. Every year I tend to buy one bikini that will mix up my wardrobe and squelch that new bathing suit bug that comes every spring. 4. Suboo Mesh One Piece- How cute is this, right? Love the colors, the cut, and the fact that it is a bit more modest without the whole looking like you are wearing a paper bag bit.

6. Vitamin A Cannes Crop Rash Guard- Just in case you ever need a rash guard that will not actually guard from any rashes.

7. Eberjey Gypsy Traveler Shorts- Some shorts that are not actually shorts to go with your rash guard that is not actually a rash guard.

8. Cynthia Rowley Colorblock Wetsuit- Yes, the is the most trendy and gorgeous wetsuit I have ever seen.

9. Norma Kamali V-Neck One Piece- Well, this is the sexiest one piece I have ever seen.

10. T by Alexander Wang Mesh Racerback One Piece- Like the previous one, but a bit less of the J Lo Grammy dress... You know the one.

11. Lisa Maree Open Mind One Piece- Oh how I wish this came in other colors. It is so pretty and different, but none of the details would be seen on me since my skin is the same color as the suit. Frowny face.

Pros and Cons of Omega-6 Fatty Acids

A few short weeks ago I wrote an article outlining which was better for us, olive oil or grape seed oil. The results very much surprised me, especially since one of grape seed oil's downfalls was the high amounts of omega-6 fatty acids found per serving. A healthy oil should average a 4:1 (or lower) ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids. Grape seed oil has 75 times the amount of omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3. Of course, this makes not eating grape seed oil a no-brainer, but what has not made sense to me is why omega-6 fatty acids are so bad for us. It has always been my understanding that omega-6 and omega-3 acids are needed for healthy organ, brain, and joint function- turns out, this is not exactly true.

Pros

Like omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids are an unsaturated fatty acid that the body cannot create on it's own. Because of this, it is important that we get enough omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids through our diet. Most people get enough omega-6 fatty acids from their diet alone. The daily recommended amount of omega-3 fatty acids can be obtained through a daily supplement. When taken in the right amounts, omega-6 fatty acids can help with:

• Aids in reducing ADHD: Studies have shown that children with ADHD usually have lower amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.
• Reduces the affects of rheumatoid arthritis
• Reducing allergies: Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a form of omega-6 fatty acids is found in fewer quantities among those that suffer from allergies. Taking addition omega-6 fatty acids, particularly plant based, can help reduce the effects of allergies.
• Lower blood pressure

Cons

Like most things in life, too much of a good thing can turn bad. On a healthy diet containing a 4:1 ration of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, the pro's of omega-6 can far outweigh the cons. But, anything higher and you could be looking at some not-so-great side effects of too much omega-6.

• Inflammation: Arachidonic acid, a form of polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids, can increase inflammation in joints when taken in high quantities. This can also lead to higher levels of pain for those with rhuematoid arthritis.
• Increased risk of cardiovascular disease
• Depression
• Increased risk of cancer: This is especially true for post menopausal women who have higher than normal levels of polyunsaturaded fatty acids.
• High cholesterol

Foods with a Good Omega-6 to Omega-3 Ratio

Although we should all be taking a supplement that gives us more omega-3 fatty acids, it is also important to know which foods are good and which to steer clear of. These foods have a ratio of 4:1 or lower:

• Flaxseed oil (1:4)
• Grass fed beef (3:1). Corn fed beef averages 10:1
• Seafood such as tuna (1:20)
• Egg whites (0:0)
• Black beans (1:1)
• Fruits and veggies

Workout Clothes I am Currently Obsessing Over

There are tons of new spring lines of clothing coming out right now. Although I am currently loving all the sun dresses and sandals we are starting to get a hint of, I am obsessing over so many new workout clothes that my head just might explode. This Week in Workouts: Best Run Ever

A quick note: For some reason, this did not get out yesterday. Since it was a pretty great week workout wise, I wanted to get it out anyway :) I hope your Monday is fantastic. Happy Monday!

Happy Sunday! Man, this week was filled with lots of super fun things! First, Sunday began with my longest run in about two years, then we got to see Once, which was epic. I honestly do not know which is better, the movie or the show. All of the Irish music in the show made it the hub's favorite, hands down. And, speaking of Irish music, does anyone have plans for St. Patrick's Day? We are in the process of planning something fun for my birthday/St. Patrick's Day and I cannot wait!

This week was also filled with kettlebell workouts, more runs, and lots of handstand and scorpion poses.

Sunday: 6-mile run averaging 8:30 per mile. Whoohoo! This was my first run outdoors in quite a while, it was so nice and wonderfully relaxing. Although, my face was a bit dirtier than indoor running.

Monday: Resting those legs and yoga

Tuesday: 4-mile run followed by yoga flow for flexebility

Wednesday: Inversion yoga flow

Thursday: Rest day

Friday: Cassey Ho Dance Workout followed by kettlebell mixer workout that is derived from here.

Saturday: Kettlebell mixer workout x3 followed by this yoga for detox by Adriene. Yea, I will definitely have to post the kettlebell mixer workout super soon, I am completely obsessed with it. Bum and abs are sooo sore!
