The Best Baked Brie Recipe Ever

by Jenni in

Every year for Christmas my cousin, Jessica, makes this baked brie dish and every year there is a mad stampede of family and friends for it. I have been meaning to ask her for the recipe for almost a decade now and finally broke down and got it a few days ago. It seemed like the perfect cheese dish for our holiday game night party since it's one part delicious and fancy cheese, and one part homey bready goodness.

Usually my Best Dish Ever recipes are quite healthy but surprisingly good. Do not let that pattern fool you. This is straight up cheese and bread and salt. Nottin' else. But, it is still delicious and a worthy splurge item. The whole thing takes about 30-minutes to make and 5-minutes to devour. I suggest making two.

Ingredients

  • An 8-11 ounce brie
  • Aluminum foil
  • 1 can Pillsbury refrigerated french baguette
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon herbs de Province
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Set the oven to 375 degrees F. While heating, cut a 15 inch long piece of aluminum foil in half length wise, then fold each piece three times, length wise again. Slip the ends of the two aluminum foil pieces into one another, then do the same on the other side so you have a circle. Continue slide the ends until you have an 8-inch diameter. Place on center of baking sheet.

Cut the baguette dough in half length wise, then cut it into 24 square pieces. Place dough in bowl and mix in melted butter, sesame seeds, herbs, and garlic powder. Mix well with hands so each piece is evenly coated.

Place the brie in the center of the aluminum circle, then spoon the dough around the brie. Bake for 15-minutes, then remove the aluminum and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until bread is golden brown.
