The Best Baked Brie Recipe Ever

by Jenni in

Every year for Christmas my cousin, Jessica, makes this baked brie dish and every year there is a mad stampede of family and friends for it. I have been meaning to ask her for the recipe for almost a decade now and finally broke down and got it a few days ago. It seemed like the perfect cheese dish for our holiday game night party since it's one part delicious and fancy cheese, and one part homey bready goodness.

Usually my Best Dish Ever recipes are quite healthy but surprisingly good. Do not let that pattern fool you. This is straight up cheese and bread and salt. Nottin' else. But, it is still delicious and a worthy splurge item. The whole thing takes about 30-minutes to make and 5-minutes to devour. I suggest making two.

Ingredients

  • An 8-11 ounce brie
  • Aluminum foil
  • 1 can Pillsbury refrigerated french baguette
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon herbs de Province
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Set the oven to 375 degrees F. While heating, cut a 15 inch long piece of aluminum foil in half length wise, then fold each piece three times, length wise again. Slip the ends of the two aluminum foil pieces into one another, then do the same on the other side so you have a circle. Continue slide the ends until you have an 8-inch diameter. Place on center of baking sheet.

Cut the baguette dough in half length wise, then cut it into 24 square pieces. Place dough in bowl and mix in melted butter, sesame seeds, herbs, and garlic powder. Mix well with hands so each piece is evenly coated.

Place the brie in the center of the aluminum circle, then spoon the dough around the brie. Bake for 15-minutes, then remove the aluminum and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until bread is golden brown.

Happy Friday!

by Jenni in

Happy Friday all! This weekend we are still hitting the Christmas festivities hard with an annual after Christmas Christmas Party followed by some massive eggnog drinking- someone has to drink it before it's too late...

The weekend after Christmas is one of my favorite times since things have slowed down, people have relaxed a bit, and we are able to sit around in our PJ's with close family and friends. I am hoping to play a few games this weekend with family including this one and this one. Here is Adam Levine playing it with Ellen.

What will you be doing this holiday weekend?

Netflix Infidelity- are you guilty? My husband totally is!

Thirteen of the most convenient workouts in honor of 2013

This website showing the popularity of names over 100+ years is super addicting. I have been looking up family member's names all morning.

5 Most Popular Workouts of 2013

by Jenni in

We have done plenty (and I mean plenty) of workout how-to's on P+K this last year. It always surprises me that some are so much more popular than others... Especially considering that the most popular ones are hardly ever what I expect them to be. This year, there have been quite a few that have stood apart as the most popular workouts yet.

10-Minute Abs

Of course, a workout how-to that is titled 10-minute abs is popular. That part is no surprise. What is surprising, however, is that this workout actually works! I still love this one and do it whenever my abs need a kick in the pants. This one was also pretty great since we got to have a photo shoot- on the beach- in Atlantis!

Bikini Workout

This is an intense workout that is sure to leave you a puddle of sweat on the floor by the end. Yes, I will be doing this one a few times to make up for all those delicious cookies I ate this past week. Believe me, there were a lot!

10-Minute Arm Workout

This workout has left my arms wiggly noodles for three days after. If you want to really make this an intense routine, do three to four sets of the usual 10-minute workout. Oh boy, you will be feeling it tomorrow!

Ballet Bum Workout

This ballet bum workout is one of the most recent ones, and one of the most popular. The Ballet Bum workout is my workout of choice when warming up for yoga or cooling down after a run.

Six Ways to Tone with Push-Up Bars

Six Ways to Tone with Push-Up Bars is, by far, the most popular workout of 2013. This is also one of the most searched workouts and the one I never expected to top the charts... Even though it is a really great workout!

This Week in Pins

by Jenni in

Goodness, can you believe that Christmas is less than one day away?! I hope you have some amazing holiday plans in store. The hubs and I both have a rather extensive family, so for us, the family Christmas events started last night. Really though, hat I am most excited about is Christmas morning. We have a big family, which I am so incredible grateful for, but every year since we got married, Christmas morning has been the time to wake up when we want, eat a yummy brunch, and spend some relaxing time together before the family craziness. It is wonderful.

Since everyone out there, including myself, has had Christmas on the mind, most of the pins of last week were almost completely Christmas related... But I will definitely be doing/making/buying one or two of these throughout the year!

I have been meaning to do this one forever. Hopefully, this week will be the week of DIY's!

Hmmm, this may be the beginning of a gold dipping pandemic.

For all those cookies.

Oh, how I want to do this to every piece of glass in our home.

Finally,  little something from me to you for Christmas!

An after Christmas, what else than the New Year... This is a great article that I will definitely be taking some pointers from in 2014!
