10-Minute Ab Workouts

by Jenni in

We all want abs, and most of us would like them in as little time as possible. Welcome the massive trend of 10-minute abs. These workout only take ten minutes, but they should be pushing your abs to the extreme the entire time. 10-minute ab workouts should be done with another daily workout, my preference is cardio first and 10-minute abs to top it off.

Total Ab Workout

Of course, no 10-minute ab overview is complete without my personal favorite of ab workouts. This workout has worked abs for a gambit of different body types. If you are interested in getting some massive tone, you will love this. It may take up to 15-minutes to complete your first time around, but as you increase in core strength, the workout will take less time. This workout focuses a little less on the obliques and a bit more on the upper and lower sections of the abs, although it does give them a complete workout!

Beginner Ab Workout

This ab workout is great for the novice ab exerciser. The workout will work your upper, lower, and oblique abs evenly with two 5-minute circuits. I love this quick video and XHIT's video layout- they have timers on the lower thirds and let you know what exercise is coming next! It is so much easier to push ourselves to the limits when we know we are only doing it for fifteen more seconds!

The exercises are pretty basic and almost any level of fitness should be able to complete it. If you would like to kick-up this ab routine, you could complete it twice, or use weights for movements like the Russian Twist.

Lower Ab Workout

Let's face it, lower abs can be a very difficult place for a great majority of people to tone. This workout does a great job of pin-pointing the lower abdominal muscles and working them to the brink. Like the beginner ab workout above, this workout is done by XHIT, but uses a different trainer. Since it is an XHIT workout, it has the timer and lists the upcoming exercise as well. Love this. Although the workout calls for an exercise ball, Kelsey (trainer) says you can do the movements along without the ball if there is no medicine ball available to you.

The Most Insane Ab Workout Ever

by Jenni in

Oh goodness is that ab routine intense. I completed this insane workout this morning after deciding to give my abs a major facelift over the next month. There have been plenty (and I mean plenty) of ab workouts on P+K already, so I took my three favorites and created an ab workout that could leave grown men crying.

The workout is comprised of two of P+K originals and one from Pumps and Iron. I love all three of these workouts and doing them together makes it all the better. The entire workout takes 33-35 minutes, depending on your warm-up time. Complete each workout once, without any breaks. Then, break for 1-minute between workouts 1 and 2, and 2 and 3.

This workout is intense, but not terrible. The cardio training will help burn fat and increase your daily metabolic rate while the strength and resistance training will work all areas of your abs. This multi-workout will increase back, leg, and upper arm strength as well!

I suggest completing this workout at least 2-3 times per week for a total ab makeover!

Workout 1: Crunch Free Core Workout

This workout is intense. To make it play a little better with the two others, I did some minor tweaking. Only warm-up for 1-2 minutes as needed, then complete two circuits with a one minute break between each.  Since we will be doing more Superman/Bananas in other workouts, swap out Superman/Banana with 1-minute Plank Toe Rolls.

Once both circuits are complete, rest for one minute, then go on to workout 2.

Workout 2: Ten Minute Abs

This workout is great on it's own, but add it to our insane ab cocktail and you have a powerhouse. Complete the entire workout as directed, then rest for 1-minute and go on to workout 3.

Workout 3: 8-Minute Abs 2.0

Nicole over at Pumps and Iron created an incredible 8-Minute Ab routine that is great on it's own, but goes perfectly as the finale of this Insane Ab Workout. Complete each exercise as Nicole directs, then cool down and stretch.

The Perfect Sit Up

by Jenni in

Well, it is the beginning of those new years resolutions. Here is something for those who added "get a six pack" (and I know there are a few of you out there!) to there yearly goals. We bought The Perfect Sit Up a few months ago, and honestly, I cannot remember why.... But I am happy we did. I love sit ups as much as the next girl- Well, maybe a little bit more. But even my sit ups could use some perfecting.

Chances are, the majority of people out there could use some help in the sit-up department. If you have ever gotten a sore neck, lower back, or not sore abs, you may be one of them. This machine is a bit cheaper than hiring a personal trainer any time you want to get some ab work in. It has some pretty neat machinery that works in ways I do not understand to make sure that you are sitting up far enough and sitting up right.

The machine (not really a machine) can be altered for taller or shorter people and can be changed to do bicycle sit ups and the like. If you are one of those ridiculous muscle people, this could help you too! The machine can increase resistance to give a harder workout. Maybe not the thing for someone on their first day of ab toning, but definitely handy for the sit-up veteran. A nice little perk is the hanger attachment it comes with for hanging in your closet with ease. This may be one of my favorite perks, gotta hate clunky workout equipment that cannot find a home.
