This Week in Pins

by Jenni in

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have some great plans for this weekend- maybe even seeing Captain America, heh, heh! This week there have been some super cute things on Pinterest that just must be shared. Lots are about houses since spring is in the air and all I want to do is decorate/clean/read. Talking about reading, has anyone read The Ring and The Crown? I read it this week and must say, it was not my favorite. Palette cleanser time. If anyone knows a great action with a love story (there must be a love story) send it my way, I am in bad need of some new reading material.

Home Style Quiz, Henderson Style

I put this one first because it is the most important. If you read nothing else and go straight to taking this quiz, reading the article, and having a wonderful laugh, I will not mind in the slightest. It is the funniest thing EVER. Like Emily, I also made the hubs take this last night, that was a close second in the funny category. How can a guy not understand that you are not actually picking a home location from a picture, I. do. not. know. He got the Property Brothers and I got Nate Berkus. There is truth in this quiz.

Take it!

White Chocolate Poppyseed Blondies

Yum! I think that is nuff' said. Seriously, these are spring and light and wonderful. They look amazing and I want to make them right now. Put it in my mouth.

Calorie Torching Workout

This actually looks kind of fun, right? All we need is some weights and a few minutes to get in some serious fat burning! Just might have to do this over the weekend for some super fun calorie torching!

Catt Sadler's Home

I love Catt Sadler and I absolutely love her home. Some may say that using so much quite is a fear of color, so not true. It is just plain pretty and simple and swoon.

Savory Cheesy Bread

Last, but not least, we have the least P+K thing on the whole list. Our aunt made this for us awhile she was visiting a few months ago and it is seriously the best thing I have ever crammed into my pie hole. You may be thinking, "oh, this is on P+K so there must be something secretly healthy about it." No, there is nothing redeeming about it. It is a fat filled starch bucket with more fat than we want on our entire bodies. This is one for the splurge day for. sure.

To make this a bit healthier, I would highly recommend using this dairy-free pesto recipe from the wonderful Nicole at Pumps and Iron

Running Myths and Truths

by Jenni in

I have recently started running quite a bit more, which has led me down the rabbit hole of interesting running myths and truths. Although tests are usually not something I look forward to, I think a little running quiz on this Wednesday morning could be quite fun. There are six running myths and truths below, can you figure out which are true and which are false?

Hint: three are true and three are false.

Running truths and myths- which are true and which are false?

Truths

If you guessed that two, three, and five were true, you would be correct. Kinetic stretches are vital before a run. This form of stretching lubricates the joints, warms the muscles, and prepares the tendons- all of which increase performance and decrease the risk of injury, just be sure to keep it kinetic before and static after. Likewise, shorter strides have been shown to decrease fractures in the foot when compared to longer strides. The average stride for professional competitive racers is between 185-200. That should be our goal as well!

Not Truths

If you thought something was fishy about numbers one, four, and six, you were correct! There is no scientific evidence to show that running is bad for our joints. Actually, there is no evidence to show that running does anything (good or bad) to our joints at all. When wearing compression socks, race times are improved by up to 6.1%. Recovery time is also lessened with compression gear and so is soreness after a run. Although flexibility is good for running, too much flexibility can weaken a stride and increase the risk of injury.
