A Great Treadmill Interval Workout

by Jenni in

Ok, so I cannot take any credit for this 30-minute interval workout that will feel like death while doing it, and ike you have conquered the world when it is over. This was the treadmill portion of my workout at Orange Theory yesterday and I simply had to share. Seriously, so good! The workout includes a 3-minute warm-up and 3-minute cool down. I completed it before going on to do floor work, but you can do it all on it's own as well.

If, however, you are wanting to get some major calorie burning, the floor work we did was pretty great too! There were four total sets, the first being six reps of squat rows and six reps of push-ups. Then came six reps of jumping lunges (per side) with six reps of tricep dips. A lot of other things happened with the rowing machines, but doing these two sets twice each would be a killed workout all the same!

30-minute treadmill interval workout

I like to keep each pace the same or higher than the time before. For a killer workout, try increasing the sprints by 0.1-0.3 for each interval... Including the last one! Increasing the sprints really helps work my glutes as much as my lower abs. It also get a way higher calorie burn since my heart rate is going through the ringer.

What are some of your favorite ways to get a massive calorie burn?

THINGS I AM LOVING FOR FALL

by Jenni in

How excited are you for fall? I simply cannot wait for this time of year! Not only are the holidays some of my favorites, but the clothes are just splendid as well! I am currently trying to find the perfect pair of light brown knee-high boots that will polish off a few outfits in the making!

Of course, there are also those super trendy fall colors, stylish looks for fall, and a few great make-up tips that will get us all seasonally ready... Even if the season may not feel like it has quite arrived.

How are you feeling about the cowboy and 60's inspired looks this fall?

Burgundy Lips

This look is so classic for fall and so beautiful all at once! I am also loving how it looks on those with copper hair, but especially love the look on all those gorgeous brunettes out there! Not sure how to pull off such a daring lip? Here is a great tutorial about applying a burgundy lipstick. This article is also great for picking that perfect burgundy color!

Slouchy Sweaters

{via}

Slouchy sweaters may have been seen here and there last fall, but this year they are coming in a big way! It seems like every fall runway had at least one tiny girl wearing a giant sweater. I loved it! Slouchy sweaters are the best way to get that "I woke up like this" look whether you did or did not. They also go with everything and can be dressed up or down. Thankfully, slouchy sweaters can be comfortably worn in cooler weather or the warm Florida falls.

They are also just so cozy looking. If we had a fireplace, I would roll up in front of it with a coffee, book, and slouchy sweater every day of the year!

Knee [or Higher] Boots

{via}

Don't you just love this look? I am obsessed with the slouchy sweater/knee-high boot combo this season! Now, if I could only find those perfect (and budget conscious) medium brown boots! Yes, ankle boots are still in style, but knee highs will always be my jam! If I were looking for a black pair, it would be these in a heartbeat.

Pastels!

{via}

Pantone's Fall 2014 colors include many that are simply fun and quite a few that are also pastel! Although my skin tone does not look super great in pastels, I am still happy to see them worn into fall. My favorite just might be the radiant orchid, although the aluminum and sangria take a close second!

This tutorial on introducing fall colors into your make-up regimen is simply fantastic and uses my favorite of them all!

Crop Tops

{via}

A good cropped top with a high wasted skirt is perfect for any dress this fall! I am also loving the way it makes all of us look a bit more toned and cinched than we naturally are. Afraid of looking un-lady-like in a crop top? Just know that Audrey Hepburn did it and so did Grace Kelly! The secret between trashy and chic is all in the waistline. Forgo low rise or natural fitting bottoms when you are pairing with a crop top- they will show too much skin and can easily go wrong, no matter how svelte your stomach.

The crop should end and waistline begin at the smallest part of your torso. This will help create those exaggerated feminine lines.

Recipes for Labor Day Leftovers

by Jenni in

As you may know, Labor Day was celebrated yesterday. For most of us this meant barbecuing, beaching, and all out relaxing. Of course, there is plenty of eating to go along! For all those out there who had massive parties or even just made some massive amounts of food, you could be looking at some serious leftovers. Of course, there is always the option to eat those leftovers just the way you made them, but, if you want to mix it up a bit, these recipes could help!

Barbecue Chicken Salad

This recipe uses two things you may have leftover- barbecue chicken and corn on the cob. Whether you are making this as a quick lunch or light dinner, it will be fantastic! Keep it simple by using Worcestershire sauce like the recipe suggests, or really go out and use that delicious, delicious ranch dressing. Yum!

Crab Rolls

{via, via}

Yesterday we had a low country broil for dinner, sans the potatoes. Yes, it was amazing and I almost wish I had not gorged myself so we could have any leftovers to make these with! Unfortunately, we ate way too much and have no leftovers left. It was totally worth it though ;) Low country broils may be my favorite meal ever to exist!

If you, however, do have crab leftover in your fridge, there is a pretty great chance you will want to use it fast and not in the same way you prepared it. Both of these recipes will be great for day-old crab, just be sure to use it quick! Of course, either one can also be supplemented with shrimp, lobster, or canned crab as well. The first recipe option above is a bit healthier. With only 238 calories and 5 grams fat, it is almost half of the Panera-recommended option. Of course, the slightly less healthy one also seems slightly easier to make.

Oh, and just because it came up with my "crab roll" search, here is a super yummy looking recipe for cinnamon roll protein pancakes. Yes, please!

Wine Granita

{via}

This might just be the best use of stale wine or beer ever. And, if you had a Labor Day party, there is a chance you have a bit of both. Instead of sadly pouring it down the sink, simultaneously wasting your libations and giving your house that oh-so sought after fraternity house smell, use it for a dessert! These granitas will save all that unused wine and beer and the best part is you actually want it to be stale.

For those with some serious dessert leftovers, this list of ways to use cake could be super handy! This one is great for any of those pies and cobblers you still have hanging around.

Happy Labor Day!! I hope you have something fun planned for today, our day is looking like it will be played a bit by ear :) Maybe some work, maybe some play, maybe a bit more rest. All of it sounds great to me! Something else that sounds a bit great is watching this Misty Copeland commercial! Yes, I am that person who tears up at the Hallmark commercials and watches the Super Bowl without know who is playing or the score but knowing exactly what commercials are my faves!

This one is simply beautiful and must be shared. Misty has always been a bit of a role model in the ballet world. If you have ever watched her episode of "Day in the Life" you know why. She is so hard working and does not fit the model of your average principle ballet dancer. Misty is definitely blazing a new, and needed, trail in the ballet world. The letter being read in this commercial is an actual letter she received. Goodness, am I happy that she had the will to continue when others told her she should not. Her story is one of hard work, dedication, love, strength, and will. She is beautiful and so are you.

Happy Monday! xxx
